Top Senator: Trump Can Be Indicted and Put on Trial

Not even the president’s above the law.

That was the focal point of remarks made by Senator Richard Blumenthal (D-Ct.) in an interview with CNN regarding whether or not President Trump can be indicted while in office.

Blumenthal was taking issue with Trump legal adviser Rudy Giuliani’s recent statement that the president can not under prevailing Justice Department rules be indicted.

Giuliani said that Special Counsel Robert Mueller had acknowledged as much when the two recently met, and the former New York City mayor sought to remind Mueller and his team that all they get to do is “write a report” regarding alleged collusion between Trump’s campaign and the Russian government.

Blumenthal admitted that such guidelines do exist in the Justice Department, but can and should be overridden should Mueller conclude Trump’s guilt.

Of course, as far as what’s been made public, there seems to be no incriminating evidence at all, and Mueller’s investigation looks to be little more than a witch hunt.
