Thousands Of Cartons Of Milk Recalled Due Possible Life-Threatening Allergic Reactions, Health Officials Report

The United States Department of Agriculture’s Food Safety and Inspection (FSIS) reports that a consumer has reported an allergic reaction after consuming a favorite milk product.

Alternative options for milk such as soy, almond, and other plant-based milk is on the rage these days. Some consumers cannot tolerate normal milk, so they use other kinds of plant-based milk. Some say it’s healthier than animal-derived milk, while others are just simply lactose intolerant.

At this time, there has only been one report to an allergic reaction. However, the establishment is taking precautions. The consumer who had the reaction reports that they didn’t have to go to the hospital.

HP Hood LLC, who manufacture’s almond milk, has decided to pull nearly 150,000 cartons of refrigerated Blue Diamond Vanilla Almond Breeze from retailer’s shelves because the product may contain dairy milk.

According to federal law, dairy milk is known as an allergen and must be declared on the food and beverage labels.

“People who have an allergy or severe sensitivity to milk run the risk of serious or life-threatening allergic reactions if they consume these products. The product is safe to consume unless you have a milk allergy or sensitivity,” the recall notice said according to “Food Safety News.”

HP Hood has recalled 145,254 half-gallon cartons of Vanilla Almond Breeze. The recalled product has been distributed to retailers all across the United States. Here’s the list of states: Alabama, Arkansas, Connecticut, Florida, Georgia, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Kentucky, Louisiana, Maryland, Maine, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, Mississippi, North Carolina, Nebraska, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, South Carolina, Tennessee, Texas, Virginia and Wisconsin.

The milk has the Universal Product Code (UPC barcode) of “41570 05621,” which is next to the nutrition facts on the side of the panel.
