Statue Of Mary ‘Decapitated’ At Toronto Church

Parishioners of a Parkdale Maronite Catholic church are distraught over the vandalism of a statue of the Virgin Mary on their property. The statue, located at the Our Lady of Lebanon Parish near Queen St. W. and Beaty Ave., was discovered without its head Sunday by a parishioner before morning mass.

Father Walid El Khoury, the pastor of the church, told CP24 they looked for the missing head around the property without luck. He said he has reached out to Toronto Police and asked them to investigate.

“Before we started our masses at Our Lady of Lebanon church Toronto, we were shocked to discover a horrible act of vandalism: We found that the statue of the Virgin Mary, erected in front of the church, was completely decapitated!” reads a Facebook post from the church.

“Most probably this was done during the night or at dawn … Our parishioners, when exiting the church, were horrified to see such a deplorable and malicious act.”…(Read more)
