PROBLEMS in Colorado — Is Legalized Pot to Blame??

By

Some say it is a lack of housing in this rising economy, but others look at the legalization of marijuana. Regardless, Colorado is seeing a rise in homelessness unseen in the rest of the USA.

According to Fox News,  though there are no hard statistics to back it up, some people – including Charlie Berry, who grew up in Denver – say some of the homeless have come to Colorado for legalized marijuana.

“Basically, all they want to do is just come here and smoke pot,” Berry said. “When you legalize marijuana you open the door to a whole new level of hell.”

Colorado’s homeless population jumped 13 percent from 2015 to 2016, despite that nationally, homelessness declined by 3 percent during the same time period, according the U.S. Department of Housing and Urban Development.

Colorado saw a 13% INCREASE from 2015 to 2016 although the nation saw a 3% DECREASE in this period??

What is to blame?  The economy HAS brought in more people.  There IS a proven lack of sufficient housing.  Are homeless people actually moving to Colorado for this new change in law?

What do YOU think?  Would you like to see YOUR state opt for legalizing marijuana?
