Derek Carr, the star quarterback of the Oakland Raiders, has never been shy about his Christian faith.
After being injured in the closing minutes of a Christmas Eve victory over the Indianapolis Colts, Carr shared a message of faith that is taking the Internet by storm.
The victory gave the Raiders a spot in the upcoming playoffs. It also capped a season that saw Carr continuously improve to become one of the leagues top quarterbacks.
He was on top of the world.
And then, with just minutes left, Carr broke his leg. His season was finished. And the injury could very possibly affect his performance next season.
Most people in such a situation would be angry and cursing.
Not this man of faith.
Carr reacted by reminding everyone what is truly important in life.
Immediately, Carr took to Instagram to tell fans: “This will be a day I will never forget! He will be glorified!!! Much love everybody! I will be back stronger than ever very soon!!!”
He later posted a longer message that read:

“Thank you to everyone that has been praying for me! Things happen in life that we don’t always understand, BUT I do KNOW this: I serve a God that loves me and this is the ultimate healer! I am not worried one bit. I will bounce back and be on my feet within no time! Thank you for all of the love that you Raider Nation showed me in that stadium today. I will be back This is a team sport! So everything WE want is still out there for us!”
He closed another post by encouraging fans to read Joshua 1:9, which states:
“Have I not commanded you? Be strong and of good courage; do not be afraid, nor be dismayed, for the Lord your God is with you wherever you go.”
Already last year, Carr expressed his thankfulness over getting to play football for a living. But said it paled in comparison with his faith.
