Netanyahu Demands Obama Stand Up For Israel

By

President Obama and Israel Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu have had a rocky relationship, to say the least. In fact, Obama doesn’t seem to like Israel all that much.

But America does support Israel. And Netanyahu demanded Obama honor the will of the people by standing up for the Jewish state one last time.

On Thursday, the UN Security Council was scheduled to vote on yet another anti-Israel resolution.

The resolution was submitted by Egypt on behalf of the Palestinian Authority. It requires Israel to cease “settlement activity” in what it calls “occupied Palestinian territory.” And that includes the city of Jerusalem.

True Ally?

Because this is the Security Council, resolutions passed there carry far more weight than those passed in the General Assembly. As such, America has always used its veto power to squash resolutions that would harm Israel.

But now that Obama has nothing more to lose, Israel feared he could spitefully refuse to veto this particular resolution.

One final jab at his rival Netanyahu.

But the Israeli leader looked to hold Obama accountable. Hours before the vote, Netanyahu tweeted: “The US should veto the anti-Israel resolution at the Security Council on Thursday.”

Israel’s ambassador to the UN, Danny Danon, added:

“We expect our greatest ally to not let this one-sided and anti-Israel resolution pass through.”
