Navy Searches Frantically to Locate Marine Fallen Overboard, Please Pray


According to Fox News, the U.S.S. Essex reported that the Marine went missing in the Sulu Sea around 9:40 a.m. local time. The search to find him commenced immediately.

“It is an all-hands effort to find our missing Marine,” said U.S. Navy Capt. Gerald Olin, commander of Amphibious Squadron One and of the search and rescue operation.

“All of our Sailors, Marines, and available assets aboard the USS Essex have been and will continue to be involved in this incredibly important search and rescue operation,” he added.

The search has covered around 3,000 nautical miles so far. It has also included a look through the amphibious assault ship multiple times.

The U.S. Marine Corps, as well their Philippine counterparts are also involved in the search. Colonel Chandler Nelms, Commanding Officer of the 13th Marine Expeditionary Unit, released a statement regarding the search.

“As we continue our search operation, we ask that you keep our Marine and the Marine’s family in your thoughts and prayers,” he said.
