First Lady Melania Trump has shown herself to be many things since her husband became president.
She is elegant, dignified, a woman of faith, and an all-around class-act. She’s also intensely private, especially at home with her family.
And so it was with a great deal of surprise to her supporters that Melania this week officially reopened the White House to public tours.
In a statement reported by AOL, Melania said:
“I am excited to reopen the White House to the hundreds of thousands of visitors who come each year. The White House is a remarkable and historic site and we are excited to share its beauty and history. I am committed to the restoration and preservation of our Nation’s most recognizable landmark.”
Remember, the White House was historically open to public tours, but became a closed, personal sanctuary during the Obama years.
No surprise, given Obama’s narcissism. But this is the people’s house, and Melania Trump is giving it back to them.
In a further statement to WWD she said:
“Mrs. Trump has a deep appreciation for the historical aspects of the White House and with Tham’s traditional design and expertise, they are focusing on a seamless integration of elegance and comfort into where the president, the first lady, and Barron will be spending their family time and calling their home.”
