Sen. Tim Scott, R-S.C., would like to see Rep. Trey Gowdy, R-S.C., considered for the Supreme Court.

“I’m going to recommend Trey Gowdy be one of the folks that I would have a strong recommendation for him serving on the Supreme Court,” Scott said on CNN’s “The Van Jones Show,” set to air Sunday evening. “I hope that the president will be open to that recommendation.”

Gowdy, who is chairman of the Oversight Committee, announced earlier this year that he is retiring from Congress at the end of his current term. He is a former federal prosecutor who was elected to serve South Carolina’s 4th Congressional District in 2010.

Upon announcing his intent not to seek re-election this year, Gowdy said he intended to return to the justice system.

Scott, who recently co-authored a book with his South Carolina colleague, touted Gowdy as an “incredibly fair” individual who has criticized both the Obama and Trump administrations.

Gowdy would probably end up on a lot of people’s short lists for the Supreme Court. Gowdy seems to have a lot of supporters. President Trump will be making his selection very soon, and announced just days ago that he had narrowed it down to 5 choices, two of which are women.

Would you back Gowdy for the Supreme Court?
