Lindsey Graham Tears Sen. Mazi Hirono a New One for Slandering Bill Barr

By

Whatever else one might think of him, Sen. Lindsey Graham is a bulldog.

And he’s not about to let anyone turn his Senate Judiciary Committee into kindergarten playground.

That’s what Sen. Mazie Hirono was trying to do when she brought wholly unsubstantiated and frankly childish accusations against Attorney General Bill Barr.

Hirono demanded to know if Barr thinks it was OK for President Trump to “offer pardons to people who don’t testify against him, to threaten the family of someone who does?”

Baffled, Barr replied, “When did he offer a pardon to somebody?”

Hirono became indignant, demanding, “Please, Mr. Attorney General. Give us some credit for knowing what the hell’s going on around here.”

That’s when Graham stepped in and shut Hirono down.

“Listen, you slandered this man!” insisted Graham. “You slandered this man from top to bottom! If you want more of this, you’re not going to get it. If you want to ask some questions, you can.”

All Hirono could respond with was “You certainly have your opinion, and I have mine.”

Well, that’s kind of the point here, Sen. Hirono. These hearings aren’t supposed to be based on your “opinion” or feelings regarding the president. You’re supposed to be objectively seeking the facts. Instead, you turned this hearing into a petty schoolyard rivalry.
