JUST IN: ISIS Launches Two-Pronged Attack in Israel. Nation on High Alert

By

ISIS launched a deadly two-pronged attack in the Israeli capital of Jerusalem on Friday evening.

Security forces put the city on virtual lock-down while trying to capture additional ISIS operatives.

Killed in the attack was 23-year-old Border Police officer Hadas Malka, who was stabbed multiple times by one of the terrorists.

Another four people were lightly wounded, and all three terrorists were eliminated.

The first attack occurred at Zedekiah’s Cave in Jerusalem’s Old City. As Malka and other officers were responding to that shooting, they were ambushed.

Security forces put Jerusalem on lock-down for a short time as they searched for additional ISIS terrorists.

While the attackers were all Palestinian Arabs, they had apparently sworn allegiance to ISIS and formed a local branch of the jihadist horde.

From Times of Israel:

The Islamic State on Friday night claimed responsibility for a coordinated shooting and stabbing terror attack in Jerusalem that killed an Israeli police officer, Hadas Malka, 23, in what the jihadist group vowed would be the first of many attacks.

The jihadist group in an online statement said three IS fighters had targeted “a gathering of Jews” in an operation Friday, and warned that “this attack will not be the last.”

“With Allah’s help, we succeeded in carrying out an attack in the heart of Jerusalem, near the Temple Mount,” the group said.

This was the first time that the Islamic State group has claimed responsibility for an attack in Israel, according to the SITE Intelligence Group, which monitors extremist organizations.
