First, let’s get this out of the way – even if Trump called the countries in question “s***tholes”, he wasn’t making a remark about their ethnicity.

In other words, it wasn’t racially-motivated, but rather commentary on the economic viability and productivity of those societies. An attack on their poor leadership, not the color of their skin.

And, I doubt very many of us would disagree that countries like Haiti, Congo and Zimbabwe, to name just a few, are poorly mismanaged in the extreme.

But now it comes out that we need to question whether or not Trump ever even said that, at least those exact words.

One of the top people propagating this claim in the mainstream media is Democratic Senator Dick Durbin.

Others present at the meeting are saying Trump never used such language.

So, is Durbin lying?

Well, if he is, it wouldn’t be the first time.

Back in 2013, Durbin exploited the tragic death of his daughter from heart disease to score political points for Obamacare.

He painted a picture of his daughter being unable to get insurance coverage because her condition was preexisting, and that Obamacare would have solved that problem.

But that was a gross misrepresentation of the facts, because his daughter was covered by existing insurance options, and she received outstanding treatment for which Durbin handsomely rewarded the hospital with taxpayer money.

Also that year, and much more relevant to the current episode, Durbin attended closed-door negotiation between then-President Obama and GOP House leaders.

Politico reported at the time:

In a ‘negotiation’ meeting with the president, one GOP House Leader told [President Barack Obama]: ‘I cannot even stand to look at you,’ Durbin wrote in a post on his Facebook page over the weekend.

However, both the White House and the House speaker’s office denied Durbin’s account of events.

There you have it, a man known to lie about meetings in the Oval Office in order to smear his political rivals.

And this is the media’s “proof” of what Trump said?

Such evidence wouldn’t even hold up in court.
