It’s Happening: Democrats Must Now Choose

The Democratic Party has gotten itself into quite a bind.

The party’s old guard were so enthusiastic about helping young “ethnic” candidates get into Congress to boost their popularity among millennials.

But now, some of those new faces are creating endless headaches.

Chief among them is Rep. Ilhan Omar, who has made a series of anti-Semitic remarks of late, forcing the hands of older Democratic leaders who insist they remain staunch supporters of Israel.

Omar’s latest infraction came last week, when she suggested that Israel’s supporters from both parties were forcing members of Congress to pledge “allegiance to a foreign country.”

President Trump called Omar’s outburst a “dark day for Israel.”

House Speaker Nancy Pelosi, who hates Trump and certainly wants to look supportive of the first female Muslim elected to Congress, was forced to quietly side with the president, and has begun preparing a resolution condemning anti-Semitism on the House floor.

Just to be sure there is no misunderstanding, an early draft of Pelosi’s resolution clearly identifies “accusations of dual loyalty” as an “anti-Semitic stereotype.”

It must pain Pelosi and her ilk to have to do this, but the Democrats got themselves into this mess. Now they have to choose sides within their own party.
