Israel Attacks Syria Amid World War 3 Fears

By

Tension along the border between Israel and Syria is reaching boiling point.

Syria has been engulfed in a devastating civil war for years now, and on numerous occasions that conflagration has threatened to draw in the Jewish state.

The latest incident risking an outbreak of open warfare came when Israeli forces fired a warning shot at their Syrian army counterparts over the weekend.

The warning shot was fired in response to the Syrian army’s violation of the 1974 ceasefire agreement by trying to build a military post in the demilitarized zone along the border.

Via the Daily Express:

Although the escalation in tensions has not been confirmed, the source says the shot was fired after Syrian armed forces attempted to build a military post in a demilitarised zone.

They said: “The Syrian armed forces have violated the ceasefire agreement of 1974, carrying out construction work in the northern part of the demilitarised zone between Syria and Israel.

“The agreement prohibits the entry of heavy construction machinery or military vehicles there.”

While it might sound like a minor incident, this is the kind of thing that can easily spark a full-scale war in the Middle East.
