Is Melania Trump a Christian? The Answer Might Surprise You

President Trump has gone to great lengths to reach out to the Evangelical Christian community, and Melania has been by his side throughout, even making powerful religious statements of her own.

But there has been some question as to the exact church affiliation of the First Lady.

Remember, Melania grew up in Slovenia when the country was still part of the Soviet bloc.

The communist rulers of Slovenia at the time were avowed atheists, and organized religion was frowned upon, to put it nicely.

Nevertheless, a 2016 biography of Melania Trump revealed that she was baptized into the Catholic Church as a baby, and did receive communion, although this all took place in secret.

Earlier this year, the First Lady’s spokeswoman, Stephanie Grisham, confirmed those details in speaking to Britain’s Daily Mail.

That Melania Trump is still Catholic was also confirmed by the fact that she carried a rosary during her wedding to President Trump in 2005, though the ceremony took place in an Episcopal church.

And that makes her the first Catholic to occupy the White House since John F. Kennedy.

Melania’s 11-year-old son, Barron, is notably not a Catholic, as he was baptized in an Anglican ceremony.
