Here’s Why CNN’s Comparison of Trump-Obama Travel Expenses is a LIE

By

CNN was at it again this week peddling “fake news” to serve its anti-Trump agenda.

In a much-hyped report, CNN compared the travel expenses of President Trump and Barack Obama. According to them, Trump is on pace to outspend Obama in just one year.

Just one BIG PROBLEM.

CNN based their entire report on conjecture, utilizing an estimated figure from one of Obama’s presidential vacations.

More specifically, CNN took the estimated $3.6 million price tag of Obama’s 2013 golfing trip to Palm Beach, Florida and applied it to Trump’s six trips (so far) to his Florida resort of Mar-A-Lago.

By CNN’s calculations, Trump has already spent $21.6 million on vacations.

But the author of the Government Accountability Office’s report on Obama’s trip told the Chicago Tribune that it should NOT be applied to Trump’s travels.

“It’s hard to substitute one trip for another, even if the destination is the same,” Brian Lepore said.

It’s important to note that Obama’s 2013 trip included a short stop in Chicago, which would boost the overall cost by a LOT.

What CNN also left out is that several of Trump’s trips to Mar-A-Lago have been on official business.

For instance, Trump hosted Chinese President Xi Jinping there last week.

Obama only ever traveled to such places for personal pleasure. And he did so OFTEN.

The bottom line is that experts estimate Trump’s trips to Mar-A-Lago are only costing $1 million a pop, and since they haven’t all been for pleasure, they can’t be logged as “vacation.”

Once again, it’s CNN that needs to be FACT-CHECKED.
