Fact Check: Hillary Claims 230 School Shootings in Last 5 Years. Is She Right?

Talk about passing off alternative facts.

The media continuously slams the Trump White House for allegedly being loose with the facts.

So, why does Hillary Clinton get a free pass?

In a tweet following the school shooting in Parkland, Florida, Hillary claimed that there had been “over 230” school shooting since the Sandy Hook shooting in 2012.

Her agenda is clear. Get guns out of the hands of Americans.

But did she use misleading or even false statistics to make her point?

Yes. Yes, she did.

Unsurprisingly, Clinton drew her “knowledge” from the activist website Everytown, which has a similar agenda of repealing the Second Amendment.

On their website, it is claimed since the Columbine High School massacre in 1999, there have been “nearly 300 school shootings in America – an average of about one a week.”

But, if there was a school shooting every week, why aren’t we hearing about them?

Well, that’s because in Everytown’s statistics, they include everything from intentional shooting attacks on students to accidental discharge of weapons to shootings that happened near schools, but had nothing to do with the students.

In fact, only a fraction of the shootings they included even occurred during school hours, and an even smaller number were intentional and resulted in casualties. Some weren’t “school” shootings at all, but merely ended with a body being dumped at a school, usually in the wee hours of the morning.

While school shootings are horrific and a problem that we must address seriously, the fact of the matter is that they occur FAR LESS OFTEN than Democrats are suggesting.
