Doomsday Asteroid To Hit Earth This February And Wipe Out Population, Apparently

By

It’s like something out of a science fiction film: an asteroid on a path towards Earth, with only a limited amount of time to figure out what the hell to do about it. However, thanks to a discovery made by NASA last year, this sci-fi story is actually a reality.

That’s because an object that’s been classified as somewhere between an asteroid and a comet has been spotted heading towards Earth. The object, catchily named 2016 WF9, is roughly 0.3 to 0.6 miles across and was first detected in 2016 by the space agency’s NEOWISE mission.

Thankfully, NASA doesn’t think the object will hit Earth, instead they are saying it will pass nearly 32 million miles away from our planet on February 25th 2017. According to NASA: “The trajectory of 2016 WF9 is well understood, and the object is not a threat to Earth for the foreseeable future.”

There’s one man however, who doesn’t believe in NASA’s estimates. On the contrary, he believes that the asteroid will, in fact, hit Earth.

According to Dr Dyomin Damir Zakharovich, a self-proclaimed Russian astronomer, the asteroid-cum-comet is actually going to hit our planet on 16 February. If it actually happens, the impact would have the potential to destroy millions of people, homes and even entire countries.

According to The Daily Mail, Zakharovich said: “The object they call WF9 left the Nibiru system in October when Nibiru began spinning counter clockwise around the sun. Since then, Nasa has known it will hit Earth. But they are only telling people now. If the asteroid hit Earth it could destroy cities or cause a tsunami. We are all in peril.”

If Zakharovich is to be believed, it looks like you’ve got a limited number of days left to complete everything on your bucket list. Bungee jump off Victoria Falls, anyone?
