Cuomo Blames Trump But NYC Cut 20,000 Hospital Beds In Last 20 Years

By

Cuomo’s constant criticism of President Trump has been scoring points with progressives who are looking for a presidential challenger other than Joe Biden.  To progressives, Cuomo’s whining is music to their ears.

Gov. Cuomo, with an immediate need for 400 ventilators, cried to reporters that he needed 30,000 ventilators.

Gov. Cuomo: FEMA says they’re sending 400 ventilators.  Really? What am I going to do with 400 ventilators when I need 30,000?  You pick the 26,000 people who are going to die because you only sent 400 ventilators!

It was reported earlier that in 2015, Cuomo’s spending priorities – likely to fund the cost of the sanctuary policies that he supported – caused him to ignore the New York State Department of Health’s call for building a stockpile of 16,000 ventilators.

Now we learn that New York slashed a staggering 20,000 hospital beds over the last 20 years.  Cuomo has been the state’s governor since January 2011.

(New York Post) New York has lost a staggering 20,000 hospital beds over the last two decades to budget cuts and insurance overhauls, complicating local and state efforts to battle the coronavirus, according to records and experts.

The Empire State had 73,931 licensed hospital beds in 2000 before years of cuts and closures shrank the number to just 53,000 in 2020, according to records obtained by the New York State Nurses Association from the state Health Department and stats provided by officials.

What is Cuomo whining about now?
