Crazy Iraqi Minister Says His People Traveled to Space

After the antics of the former Iraqi minister of information popularly known as “Baghdad Bob” during the 2003 Gulf War, it is not unreasonable to expect outlandish claims from the Iraqi capital.

But Iraq’s current minister of transport, Kazem Finjan, might have taken it to a new level when he claimed that the first airport was built 5,000 years ago in Iraq, for use by aliens.

“If you do not believe me, read the book of the great historian Zecharia Sitchin, who was an expert in Sumerian studies,” Finjan stated during a press conference.

Sitchin, that “great historian” to which Finjan referred, was a Russian-born American Jew who spent his childhood in pre-state Israel.

Sitchin, who indeed taught himself a great deal about the ancient Sumerians, went on to write a series of books claiming that aliens living on an undiscovered planet in our solar system visited and “seeded” earth some 450,000 years ago.

The ancient Sumerians, being at least partial descendants of these beings, “knew full well that the atmosphere here [in Iraq] was suitable for flying to outer space. It was from here that the Sumerian spaceships took off towards the other planets,” Finjan continued.

The Iraqi government minister went on to claim that NASA had recently confirmed the existence of this mysterious planet, known as Nibiru.

In reality, NASA has stated that Nibiru “and other stories about wayward planets are an Internet hoax.” Sitchin’s books, while having been read by millions, have been categorically debunked by scientists.
