Breaking: Valentine’s Day Has Been Canceled

By

Romance is dead, or so they say.

While that’s increasingly true in Western society, in Islamic countries like Pakistan, authorities aren’t even willing to give it a chance.

At least not when it comes to Valentine’s Day, the most romantic day on the calendar.

Pakistani official announced this week that Valentine’s Day has been banned for the second year in a row.

“Valentine’s Day has no connection with our culture and it should be avoided,” said Pakistan’s president, Mamnoon Hussian.

In recent years, Valentine’s Day had been gaining popularity in Pakistan and other neighboring countries.

But a petition filed with the Islamabad High Court contended that the Christian holiday is “un-Islamic” and promotes “immorality and nudity.”

The High Court agreed that Valentine’s Day is a Western cultural import and “against the teachings of Islam.”

Still, many young Pakistanis said they are unimpressed by the ban, and intend to still celebrate the holiday.
