President Trump finally dropped the hammer on FBI Director James Comey on Tuesday, and promptly sent liberals into full MELTDOWN MODE.

Comey had been under fire from both Republicans and Democrats for months. But Trump couldn’t fire him while allegations of collusion with Russia still loomed.

That all changed on Monday.

Breitbart reports:

But why fire Comey now? The answer is simple. The day before, President Barack Obama’s former Director of National Intelligence James Clapper repeated, under oath, what he told NBC News’ Chuck Todd on Meet the Press on March 5 — that he had seen no evidence of collusion between the Trump campaign and the Russian government. That gave the Trump administration the breathing room to dismiss Comey — which it simply did not have before.

Trump released a statement celebrating the notion that the FBI could now get back to the task of protecting America, rather than being embroiled in political scandal:

“The FBI is one of our Nation’s most cherished and respected institutions and today will mark a new beginning for our crown jewel of law enforcement.”

Attorney General Jeff Sessions agreed:

“A fresh start is needed at the leadership of the FBI. The Director of the FBI must be someone who follows faithfully the rules and principles of the Department of Justice and who sets the right example for our law enforcement officials and others in the Department.”

Oh, but those liberals. Despite having their own reasons for wanting Comey gone, they predictably used his firing to accuse Trump of being a “dictator.”

“It’s a grotesque abuse of power by the President of the United States,” harped CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin. “This is the kind of thing that goes on in non-democracies—that when there is an investigation that reaches near the President of the United States or the leader of a non-democracy, they fire the people who are in charge of the investigation.”

MSNBC’s Chris Matthews whined that he smelled “a little whiff of fascism.”

And Sen. Richard Blumenthal (D-CT) blustered about a “looming constitutional crisis.”

Meanwhile, Trump looks ready to get down to business now that all this Russia nonsense is behind him.
