A Corpus Christi Police Department (CCPD) officer was shot while responding to a disturbance Wednesday afternoon and the shooter remains at large.
The incident started at around 2:14 p.m. when officers were dispatched to a disturbance in progress at the Watercolor Apartments in the 5900 block of Weber Road, according to CCPD.
During the investigation, the suspect opened fire on officers, hitting one of the officers multiple times.
The suspect then fled the scene and is still on the run.
CCPD identified the wounded officer as Senior Officer Manuel Dominguez, a 20-year veteran of the department. He is in stable condition with major injuries.
The suspect has been identified by CCPD as Joshua Powell, a 20-year-old black male, 5’8″ tall, and 155 pounds.
Anybody who sees Powell is asked to call 911 immediately. He should be considered armed and dangerous.
