Alexandra Ocasio-Cortez has done it again.
Live on national television, AOC not only embarassed the Democratic Party, she demonstrated just how ignorant of our nation’s history she truly is.
In trying super hard to smear the Republican Party, AOC reached back to the days of World War II for an example of conservative small-mindedness at one of our nation’s most difficult moments.
Unable to find such an example, AOC invented one:
“They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt dd not get reelected.”
That’s what AOC said, live on an MSNBC forum.
The only problem, of course, is that Franklin Roosevelt actually died while in office in 1945.
The 22nd Amendment, which limited presidents to two terms in office (after FDR had won a third), was only passed in 1947.
So, yeah, nice try, AOC, but no dice.
According to AOC, Congress amended the Constitution to prevent FDR from being re-elected:
“They had to amend the Constitution of the United States to make sure Roosevelt dd not get reelected.”
