Many of the liberals raucously protesting President Trump would never identify as religious. But they suddenly become all preachy when it comes to First Lady Melania Trump’s public expressions of faith.
Rev. Franklin Graham, our nation’s most visible Christian Evangelist, spoke out about the First Lady’s faith and whether or not she could be considered a sincere Christian.
After Melania opened a recent rally for her husband in Florida by reciting the Lord’s Prayer, she was mercilessly attacked by those who said she was only using religion to gain attention.
They said she wasn’t a sincere Christian.
Even some left-leaning Christians called the First Lady a phony.
Patrick Thornton, senior director of UX and strategy for CQ Roll Call, called Melania’s reciting of the Lord’s Prayer “disingenuous.”
He told The Christian Post that he had “never seen someone read the Lord’s Prayer before. Most Christians know it by heart by like 4th grade.”
Joel Tooley, pastor of the First Church of the Nazarene, was at the rally, and claimed that the First Lady’s prayer “felt theatrical and manipulative.”
But Franklin Graham heartily disagreed.
“When Melania did this, I thought to myself, ‘This is the first time in American history, its politics, as far as I know, that the First Lady stood and recited the Lord’s Prayer before she introduced her husband,'” Graham told Sean Hannity. “I thought it was tremendous.”
Graham couldn’t stop gushing praise for Melania as the most dignified First Lady that America has had in a long time.
“I was so proud of her, and I just couldn’t stop talking about it,” he said. “I’m as proud as I can be of our First Lady.”
What do you think? Is First Lady Melania Trump a sincere Christian, or was she just looking to score points with Evangelicals?
